- Most Nobel laureates: Gemini leads with 98 winners, followed by Virgo (95) and Libra (94).
- Most scientific laureates: Virgo ranks first with 71 winners across physics, chemistry and medicine.
- Biggest surprise: Capricorn ranks last overall but first among Nobel Peace Prize recipients.
- Physics leader: Cancer has 25 laureates, more than any other zodiac sign.
- Research period: 1901–2024, covering 947 individual laureates with complete birth dates.
What do Albert Einstein, Marie Curie and hundreds of other Nobel Prize winners have in common? Beyond their extraordinary achievements, every one of them was born under a zodiac sign. But are some signs more common among the world’s most celebrated scientists, writers and peace advocates?
To find out, ZodiacEchoes analyzed the birth dates of 947 individual Nobel laureates, covering awards from 1901 through 2024. We compared all 12 zodiac signs and examined how the rankings change across six prize categories.
The results produced several surprises. Gemini leads the overall ranking, Virgo dominates the sciences, and the zodiac sign with the fewest winners overall turns out to be the leader in peace.
Which Zodiac Sign Has Won the Most Nobel Prizes?
Gemini takes first place with 98 laureates, representing 10.35% of the analyzed sample. Virgo follows closely with 95 winners, while Libra takes third place with 94. The gap between these three signs is remarkably small. Just four laureates separate first-place Gemini from third-place Libra, suggesting that no single sign dominates the historical record. At the opposite end, Capricorn has 61 laureates, followed by Aquarius with 68 and Scorpio with 69.

Astrologically, Gemini is associated with curiosity, communication and intellectual flexibility. Virgo represents analytical thinking and precision, while Libra is traditionally connected with judgment, balance and the exchange of ideas.
These associations make an interesting symbolic comparison with Nobel-winning achievements. However, the rankings describe historical birth-date patterns, not evidence that astrology influences intelligence or success.
Virgo Dominates the Scientific Nobel Prizes
The overall ranking changes when we focus exclusively on the Nobel Prizes in Physics, Chemistry and Physiology or Medicine. Virgo moves into first place with 71 scientific laureates, ahead of Gemini with 65. Cancer and Libra share third place with 57 each.
This is particularly interesting because Virgo’s traditional astrological characteristics include methodical investigation, attention to detail and persistence—qualities commonly associated with scientific research.
Scientific Nobel Laureates by Zodiac Sign
| Rank | Zodiac Sign | Scientific Laureates |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Virgo | 71 |
| 2 | Gemini | 65 |
| 3 | Cancer | 57 |
| 3 | Libra | 57 |
| 5 | Taurus | 55 |
| 6 | Sagittarius | 54 |
| 7 | Pisces | 53 |
| 8 | Aries | 50 |
| 9 | Scorpio | 46 |
| 9 | Aquarius | 46 |
| 11 | Leo | 44 |
| 12 | Capricorn | 36 |
| Total | 634 |
The scientific results also reveal important differences between disciplines. Cancer leads physics with 25 laureates, Virgo leads chemistry with 23, and Gemini leads medicine with 30. In other words, the zodiac sign that ranks highest depends on what kind of achievement we examine.
The Most Successful Zodiac Signs in Each Nobel Prize Category
Looking beyond science reveals an even more varied picture. Libra leads literature, Gemini and Virgo share first place in economics, and Capricorn unexpectedly dominates the Peace Prize.
| Nobel Prize Category | Leading Zodiac Sign | Laureates |
|---|---|---|
| Physics | Cancer | 25 |
| Chemistry | Virgo | 23 |
| Medicine | Gemini | 30 |
| Literature | Libra | 17 |
| Peace | Capricorn | 15 |
| Economics | Gemini / Virgo | 11 each |
Economics refers to the Sveriges Riksbank Prize in Economic Sciences in Memory of Alfred Nobel, established separately from the original Nobel Prizes.
Capricorn’s Unexpected Victory in Peace
Perhaps the most surprising finding is Capricorn’s performance in the Nobel Peace Prize category. Despite finishing last in the overall ranking, Capricorn leads the Peace Prize with 15 individual laureates, narrowly ahead of Libra with 14.
In traditional astrology, Capricorn is associated with responsibility, institutional leadership and long-term commitment. Those themes offer an intriguing symbolic parallel with the sustained diplomatic and humanitarian efforts often recognized by the Peace Prize.
Yet this result also demonstrates why overall rankings can be misleading. A zodiac sign that appears relatively uncommon in one dataset may lead a particular category.
Famous Nobel Laureates and Their Zodiac Signs
Some of history’s most recognizable laureates illustrate how widely Nobel-winning achievements are distributed across the zodiac. Albert Einstein, born March 14, 1879, was a Pisces and received the 1921 Nobel Prize in Physics. Marie Curie, born November 7, 1867, was a Scorpio and received Nobel Prizes in Physics and Chemistry. She is counted only once in our overall analysis.
Other examples include Niels Bohr, a Libra born October 7, 1885, and Theodore Roosevelt, a Scorpio born October 27, 1858, who received the Nobel Peace Prize in 1906. These examples are fascinating from an astrological storytelling perspective, but individual celebrities cannot establish a meaningful relationship between zodiac signs and achievement.
How ZodiacEchoes Conducted the Analysis
To uncover which zodiac signs appear most frequently among Nobel Prize winners, ZodiacEchoes analyzed more than a century of Nobel Prize history, using a dataset spanning 1901 to 2024.
The study examined 947 individual laureates with complete birth dates, assigning each a Western zodiac sign. Multiple awards received by the same person were counted only once, ensuring that repeat winners did not disproportionately influence the rankings.
The analysis also explored patterns across individual Nobel Prize categories, including a combined ranking for physics, chemistry, and medicine. This provides a fascinating look at how the twelve zodiac signs are represented among some of history’s most celebrated minds.
Conclusion
Gemini has the most Nobel Prize winners in our historical analysis, while Virgo leads scientific achievements. Cancer takes the top position in physics, Libra leads literature, and Capricorn delivers the biggest surprise by topping the Nobel Peace Prize category despite finishing last overall.
The rankings offer a fresh way to explore the intersection of astrology, history and human achievement. They do not prove that the stars determine intelligence, creativity or success, but they certainly provide some unexpected patterns worth discussing.
